No Fear
On January 20th, President-elect Donald Trump was inducted into office—a day that also coincided with the national holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The juxtaposition of these events was unsettling and stirred a deep concern within me for our country and its future. The weight of it feels heavy, but I’ve come to recognize what fuels much of this nation: power, money, and dominance. And for those who live far beneath the reach of these forces, life can feel impossibly difficult, as though clawing out of the depths is nearly impossible.
While I don’t typically delve into political issues on my blog, I feel compelled to address the feelings this moment has brought up—not by focusing on politics, but by offering a perspective that sustains me and might help someone else.
I am a faith-based woman. For me, God is present in all things and remains the head of my life. This doesn’t mean I’m immune to concerns about the world, but it does mean I refuse to live in fear. No man governs my life—God does.
So, what does that mean in practical terms?
It means starting with God in all things. It means doing the work—educating yourself on new and existing laws, staying informed, and striving to stay ahead. It means walking in your purpose and faith without allowing fear to cloud your mind and limit your freedom.
Living in fear is like carrying around an invisible weight that drags you down, sometimes without you even realizing it. Don’t let fear take up space in your heart or mind, and certainly don’t let it make Donald Trump—or anyone else—live rent-free there. Don’t let the heaviness of the world leave you feeling hopeless.
Instead, remind yourself of this:
You have so much to offer. You have so much to achieve—not only for yourself but also for your family, your community, and the difference you’re here to make.
So, if fear creeps in, take a moment to reconnect with yourself. Go for a walk if the weather permits, or step outside for a few minutes just to feel the fresh air on your face. Pick up a book that inspires you, listen to music that moves you, or call someone you love to remind them—and yourself—that connection is everything.
Make today a great day. Lean into your goals, live out your passions, and allow yourself to be fulfilled by your dreams. Most importantly, remember that faith, not fear, leads the way.
